We are in Hawaii to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, and a total of 35 years together. I'm blessed to have a wonderful husband who is also a wonderful father to our kids! I couldn't have dreamed of a better partner-in-life.
I usually don't give my age any thought. But, for some reason, this number--30-- is giving me some trouble. I can hardly believe it's been that long. I still feel the same as I did 30 years ago (in my mind and heart, not my body!!). But the calendar says I'm past the halfway point on my journey here, and it feels kind of weird. I have so many more things I want to learn and do in my life, so many places I want to go--I guess I should hurry up!! Now that I've said it, I think I'm over it.
We went on a whale watching boat ride with Captain Dan last week. It was wonderful. We saw three pairs of mama and calf humpback whales as well as some very rare pygmy sperm whales (captain dan even got his camera out for those!). I didn't take very many pictures because I just wanted to enjoy every moment without fussing with my camera, but I did get a picture of some spinner dolphins.
We also took a drive over to the volcano. We didn't get to see any hot lava--a huge disappointment for me. We did get to see some otherworldly sights like sulphur dioxide laden steamy caulderas. And rain. Not good for pictures.
The rest of our time here will be golfing, sitting on the beach looking for whales (we saw one breaching our first day), relaxing and knitting (hopefully finishing my second Monkey!)

Happy Anniversary! Your pictures are making me jealous. It's been 2 years since we went to Hawaii and we need another trip there soon!
