Back to reality

I'm back from Fantasy Island.

I have a few more pictures to share. The beach at our last hotel was lovely and the snorkeling was amazing. We saw lots of coral and fish we'd never seen before. I even saw a cornet fish hitching a ride on the back of a turtle (I wish I had a picture of it)! We saw lots of whales right from the beach. The beach is called Anaeho'omalu Bay. In the background you can see Haleakala on Maui peeking out of the clouds.

The turtles there were so used to people, they would lay out on the beach and pose for photographs (not the best picture because it was cloudy).

This was the view from our room. In front of the beach were ancient Hawaiian fish ponds and ruins of homes and temples.

It was a wonderful trip, but I'm glad to be home. I hate to admit how much I missed my dogs. If I could just talk to them on the phone when I'm gone... I hope I'm not turning into Wierd Old Dog Lady (I guess I shouldn't worry--my children are always quick to let me know when I'm being weird).

I took way too many books and knitting projects with me. I'm still reading the same book as when I left (I took 3), took the same magazine to the beach every day and never finished, and only worked on one knitting project. There were just too many good things to look at I guess!

I finished the first Monkey on the plane ride over and was hoping to finish the second on the way back, but the movie on the plane was really cute. Have you seen Martian Child with John Cusack? I just loved it, but then, I'm a real sucker for a movie with a cute kid or dog, and this movie had both. I finished up the second sock today after making a dumb mistake. I wove in the end of the cuff on the right side?!?! I've never done that before.

Next up, the Rockin' Sock Club socks for January, and some new hand-dyed yarns.

Love your socks- fabulous color!
Most of all, I want to be the one sitting there with that big whipped cream and pineapple topped decadence!
The turtles, the view from your room- what a great way to celebrate an anniversary!
